Most tournaments hand you a bracket and a parking pass.
Teams across the DMV play weekend after weekend where nobody remembers a name, awards go to whoever the host noticed, and the only thing waiting on Sunday is a trophy and a long drive home. The games count. The weekend doesn't.
The Mid-Atlantic Softball Circuit was built differently.
Every MASC event is sanctioned by Softball Nation. Certified umpires, real rules, results that count. Four games guaranteed, three pool games Saturday and single elimination Sunday, with schedules posted the Wednesday before so nobody is guessing on Friday night.
What makes a MASC weekend different is who does the recognizing. After every pool game, the opposing coach names a Player of the Game, so recognition comes from the team that just had to face her. Saturday night, each coach nominates the best player she saw all weekend, and that becomes the All Tournament Team. Not the host's opinion. The competition's.

The MASC Standard
Three games Saturday, guaranteed
Pool play Saturday, single elimination Sunday. Schedules post the Wednesday before, so nobody is guessing on Friday night.
Awards given by the other coach
Player of the Game after every game, chosen by the coach across the field. Saturday night, each coach nominates the best player he faced all weekend. That's the All Tournament Team.
